After nearly 50 years as a member of the Law Society of Alberta, Maurice retired in 2017.
One of the founding partners of Weir Bowen LLP, Maurice was born in Barbados and moved to Canada in 1960.
After graduating from the University of Alberta law school, in 1967 he completed his articles with Wood Moir Hyde & Ross (the predecessor firm of Weir Bowen LLP).
Over his long and distinguished career, Maurice practiced almost every type of law. Over time his practice evolved to a very successful general solicitor’s practice, including real estate, wills and estates and corporate/commercial matters.
Maurice developed an extensive and loyal clientele and many of his clients share his West Indian heritage. He developed many friendships within the legal profession, was a valued partner and was always supportive and encouraging of his colleagues.
The firm wishes Maurice all the best in his retirement to enjoy his passions for sports, especially cricket, music and his family.
