Gina Murray to Clerk at the Supreme Court of Canada

Weir Bowen LLP is excited to announce that our former summer law student and incoming articling student, Gina Murray, has been selected from among dozens of candidates nationwide to Clerk at the Supreme Court of Canada, under the mentorship of The Hon. Russell Brown.

The selection process for this prestigious position is extremely competitive and rigorous, and we are thrilled that the Supreme Court has recognized Gina’s love and dedication to the law, as we have at Weir Bowen.

Gina will be graduating from the University of Alberta Faculty of Law in June 2019, following which she will begin a 10 month Clerkship with the Alberta Court of Appeal under the mentorship of Justice Dawn Pentelechuk. In September 2020, she will be commencing her Clerkship with the Supreme Court of Canada in Ottawa. She will then be returning to Edmonton to complete her articles with Weir Bowen in the fall of 2021.

We are very proud of Gina and her many accomplishments, and we invite you to join us in congratulating Gina on this well-earned honour.

INDIGENOUS LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

The lands on which Edmonton sits and the North Saskatchewan River that runs through it have been the sites of natural abundance, ceremony and culture, travel and rest, relationship building, making, and trading for Indigenous peoples since time immemorial. Edmonton is located within Treaty 6 Territory and within the Metis homelands and Metis Nation of Alberta Region 4. We acknowledge this land as the traditional territories of many First Nations such as the Nehiyaw (Cree), Denesuline (Dene), Nakota Sioux (Stoney), Anishinaabe (Saulteaux) and Niitsitapi (Blackfoot).

Weir Bowen acknowledges the many First Nations, Métis and Inuit who have lived in and cared for these lands for generations. We are grateful for the traditional Knowledge Keepers and Elders who are still with us today and those who have gone before us. We make this acknowledgement as an act of reconciliation and gratitude to those whose territory we reside on or are visiting.
